If the City Council don't ask or consult the public about the sell-off of the cities assets, particularly the cities Common Good. Well the common good was not a gift from above, but a gift from Glasgow people, rich and poor, to Glasgow's people. The only way the Common Good will be protected for the benefit of future generations is by Glasgow people. I spoke to some people in the street about it. (Appoligies to Jackie. I wish I had shut up and let her speak more. Im getting better though:-)

Whilst we prepare ourselves to fight the cuts another public owned resource has been gradually disappearing over a number of years. Scotland's Common Good Fund. Assets worth tens of millions of pounds in different parts of the country that should be working for us are being wiped out as we are being sold "The Big Society" an other empty rhetoric to distract us while we are being robbed. We lose our public land at our peril. Parks and green space are beginning to disappear under the...

To do this helps you to understand just how revolutionary their lifestyle was especially in the era when these communities were conceived. In the present day although...

Malcolm Dickson: The Free University started in early 1987 and emerged out of various events across the areas of education, art, politics and literature. It proposed an inter-disciplinary approach to learning not based on vocational skills, and to challenge the loss of community and neighbourhood. It intersected with many projects and gave rise to more specific, semi independent interest groups. The FU dispersed in the early nineties. Some of the original members involved in independent...

A group has been set up in Glasgow to keep alive the memory of the first sunrise of the Trade Union movement'. The Calton Weavers from the East End of Glasgow became Scotland's first working-class martyrs' when six of them were killed by soldiers sent in to quell their strike. The incident - at Drygate Bridge in 1787 - was the earliest major industrial dispute in Scottish history. Those who died were buried in the Calton Cemetery in Abercromby Street, but the graveyard has become dilapidated...

So what we want to look at in this program are a just few ideas around. What the precariat is, how we can trace it in the day to day, the past and more recent history. These thing have become much more everyday in the thoughts of many folk from a wide range of backgrounds and in the young they are almost normalised. But the precariat as a group of people becomes easier to recognise, in ourselves, when it is connected to peoples experiences over a number of years. Particularly when we look at...

Most in greenock seem to be in agreement about this - even the council whose job it is to look after common good assets for the benefit of the towns inhabitants. So why isn't the Greenock council doing their job and directing profits made from the docks back into the common good fund.
